One question

Someone rolled a bandwagon by here... so I got on... sometimes I scare myself!

ONE Question

ONE Chance

to get

An Honest Answer * **

You get to ask me one question ....Any question, anything, no matter how crazy it is.... No catch...  But I dare you to re-post this and see what people ask you!

* Not that my answers aren't always honest, y'know...

**disclaimer: if an honest answer proves to be too embarrassing to me, I reserve the right to shuffle my feet, look at my toes and be honestly evasive =Þ

  2. As a young girl, what were your dreams about your future?

    ReplyDelete
  3. Riete, they most definitely did Not include Brazil : ) I wanted to be a social worker, helping those who'd been given a rough start to life. I wanted to help broken children. I think I wanted to fix what was wrong in society... typical idealist. I think my dreams didn't go much further than that, other than definitely wanting to go to Scotland, my grandfather's home country. Oh I spent a long period of time wanting to be a singer too. The world is, I'm sure, grateful I didn't follow that path. As for social work, I cry too easily. I'd no doubt have been an emotional wreck.

  4. Not including your wonderful daughters and Jurgis, what is your proudest achievement?

    ReplyDelete
  5. Ouch... that was a doozy... um.... wow... this will take some thought... Gimme a sec...

    ReplyDelete
  6. Wait... Jurgis was an achievement? Shhh... don't let him hear that!

    ReplyDelete
  7. But of course! he wouldn't be the wonderful husband and father he is without you to make him like that ;D

    ReplyDelete
  8. Ok, looking at it like that... ; )

*still thinking* This is a tough one. I don't have the normal sort of accomplishments people set store by.

    ReplyDelete
  9. But that doesn't matter - it's about you and what you're proud of. :)

  10. My proudest achievement is a very personal one, I think. I spent many years depressed and seeing only a miserable life and future. In the past few years, I learnt that my own attitude was what was holding me back. I learnt that I could change the world I lived in... not in a practical way, perhaps, but by changing the way I looked at it. It's a work in progress though : ) "Grow where you're planted" comes to mind. I think I'm more amenable to moving on now that I've learnt that.

  11. Now we want to hear you sing, of course, to decide if you missed your calling in life ;)
Social work ... in a way that's what you do know too, lol ... teaching English to Brazilian hopefulls who want to better their life ...

  12. And a great answer to Katey's question!

    ReplyDelete
  13. Ha! *see the disclaimer* This is where I start getting evasive *grins* Me? Sing? No way. Besides, I have a cold and sound disgusting. Even the dog runs off when I sing in the shower now.

    ReplyDelete
  14. That is a truly AWESOME answer and what a valuable lesson. :D I'm so glad we've met, btw. Have I mentioned that lately? (and that is NOT my question .. still coming up with something good)

    ReplyDelete
  15. Hmmm, you must trust your friends a lot to open this up to any question :) I don't have anything profound to ask yet, I'll get back to you!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Faye, I have a wonderful selection of friends and yes, I do trust them : ) Ok, I did put in a disclaimer *grins*

*laugh* Kippy... is there anything about me you don't know yet?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Yes, you did put in a disclaimer. Smart girl :)

    ReplyDelete
  18. I'm the queen of honest evasions when they're needed as a self-preservation tactic ; )

    ReplyDelete
  19. Maybe that's why it's so tough for me to come up with a question, Tint. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  20. Ahh, wonderful answers, Tint. I really admire your thinking and enjoy your personality so much...........................

My question: Do you ever sing these days????????????????????

    :)

    ReplyDelete
  21. Great answer! I know it but still trying to actually do it! The Head stuck up a huge sign in the classroom that says happiness is a choice. I wince whenever I feel grumpy and see it!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Katey, I believe you can be happy and have grumpy days too. I think the happiness she's talking about isn't the laughing on a good day type, but a general contentment with your lot in life (I'm still working on that part... some days more successfully than others).

Libby, I only sing when I'm alone or think I'm alone. I like to sing while doing the dishes or housework. Sometimes I'll sing when walking along the road. Then I'll see someone on the road and clam up tight... and have the grace to look bashful.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Nice disclaimer...very smart. Maybe we can sing together sometime, demolish a few window panes. :)...goes off to think of a really, really good question. I'll be back.
P.s. Love the personal accomplishment. Great answer! My own attitude is still a work too...a real piece of work, uhm....:)

    ReplyDelete
  24. I think the work on my attitude will be an ongoing project for many years to come still : ) Break a few panes? Sure! When do we start?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Well sound does carry nicely over water, but.....

I've thought about you this last week while yanking Lemon Balm out of every nook and cranny and in almost every flower bed. I know it's a fav of yours, but I'm beginning to loathe it!

    Still thinking of a question.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Augh... wish you could magic it over here. I have one plant that is trying to thrive, but the dog... uh... pruned it. The plant is hard to come by here and the seeds, well nigh impossible. How can you loathe that smell? I'd be in heaven just handling it!

    ReplyDelete
  27. I love the smell, but it runs and seeds itself everywhere! Pruned it? Must like the taste then. At least it's good for you. My parakeets used to adore it too. I picked handfuls for them and clipped it to their cage.

Sigh....wish there was a way to get seed to you. You can't ship seed across international lines though can you?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Nope, no seed. I'll just keep encouraging the plant I have. At least my dog is relaxed lol Hm... wonder if the cockatiel would appreciate some.

  29. My question is going to be phrased as a request. :) Please describe, in as much detail as you feel comfortable sharing, your dream house. And by dream house I mean also property, yard, gardens, location, etc.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Hmmm, a question for Tint, a question for Tint...

If you could change the world... what would you do?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Can you point me to the post that tells how/why you landed in Brazil? =)

    ReplyDelete
  32. Kat, I'll answer yours first, as it's the easiest and quickest : )

    Part 2 - http://tintalasia.multiply.com/journal/item/68 (advanced apologies... it's LONG!)

  33. Jaime, there are a few things... I'm the epitome of the indecisive woman here ; )
    1) Take all those darned politicians, lock them in a room together and leave them. Feed them (if we're so inclined) through one of those prison hutch things that you see in the movies.
    2) Find a way, acceptable to the average Joe Soap, to heal that doesn't involve greedy pharmaceuticals.
    3) Teach folk that being positive, smiling, and being kind to all is the answer to the world's woes.

Thinking about it now, I'd go for #3. The other two are beyond my reach.

    ReplyDelete
  34. No worries, I knew they must be in here!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  35. #3 sounds like an EXCELLENT and totally do-able plan.

Taking over hte world - one smile at a time!

    ReplyDelete
  36. There's a thought, Jaime! : )

    ReplyDelete
  37. Kippy, I left your question for last because it runs the risk of getting very looooooong *laugh* It may even require a blog of it's own.

    My dream house...

I want a house of wood, or stone. Log wood... not urban US housing wood (did that make sense?). My home will be surrounded by grass and flowers, lots of flowers, herbs (those will be in the main garden anyway)... and trees, both regular and fruit trees. Nearby will be the chicken run, veggie beds and there will be lots of trees. Ideally, there will be a water source close by, preferably a stream.

The tricky part is location. I want to live in a place where I have friends within reach that I can invite over for coffee and cake... or go shopping with. I want folk nearby I can sit and talk to or call up with a "How're you doing this morning? Let's go for tea and scones at the Whatever Coffee Shop." I want to be close to nature. That I will find just about anywhere (except in São Paulo). The language part limits me a little more. Trying to understand and make myself understood is hard work.... it doesn't flow easily the way I believe conversation is meant to.

    Ah.... to dream... : )

    ReplyDelete
  38. I love this dream. I think I might just post a blog about MY dream house, too. I think the subject is worthy of a blog! :D I like that yours includes friends and social aspects. :D I think that's really important. I used to go through a guided meditation that took you through the steps of your dream house, so mine is very well formed in my head. :)

    ReplyDelete
  39. I could make it simple and just move in at your place, Kippy *laugh* That comes close too ; )

Oh wow... that sounds really nice as a guided meditation. Do you still have it?

    ReplyDelete
  40. *laughing* C'mon over, Tint! :D

No, unfortunately. It was an old cassette tape (tells you how long ago I did it) and it was actually a meditation to help "build your psychic abilities." Well, I'm not psychic, but I sure did love the meditation. I've looked for it since, online, but I don't remember the name, and I haven't found anything that looks like it. I loved the guy's voice, too. Very soothing.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Guided meditations are awesome and make things WAY easier for visualizations.

As for your house? I love it Tint! What kind of decor inside? Would we sit in the kitchen most of the time or in another room for cake 'n' coffee? What's on the walls (or placed on side tables)?

    ReplyDelete
  42. Yes, and colors! What colors on the walls? And how many animals running around? :D

    ReplyDelete
  43. I have no questions for you but I'm rather enjoying the answers to everyone else's.
I loved your description of your dream house and smiled at the thought of how close it is to my own thoughts.
That dream will be a reality one day Tint. I am sure of it.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Does your dream include a stone wall, Emmm? : ) I'll add that to my dream... a stone wall. I love the idea.

Kippy, I gather you don't have the tape anymore. If you do, it's easy enough to convert to digital media. I believe they make you 'psychic' in the sense that they make you more aware of yourself, your thoughts, and the world around you.

    Hm... more questions...
Decor inside would be rustic. I love technology, but that would be very, very limited (to vital-for-survival internet and such), not cottagey... just rustic... using old wood, probably 'rescued' wood. The kitchen has always been the heart of any home I've had. My style is very relaxed. We'd all be chatting over coffee while cakes are being churned out as fast as we can eat them =Þ On the walls? A Kippy gallery, of course! With a few other things included... I wanted a 'scrapbook' gallery going down the passage, with pieces and people in my life.

Kippy, Tat always said I'd end up in a cottage on the edge of some woods with a cat and a rose garden. All that's missing are the gingerbread men ; ) Colours on the walls? I like green tones and would probably have a sunny lemon in at least one room, but I'm content with just wood. The animals would depend on who's living with me. Cats, no more than two, at least one being a ginger... same goes for dogs... probably a Great dane and a shepherd. A few geese, the regulation chickens, a couple of pigs (in pens, of course), a cow... *shrug* Don't need much more than that : ) Jurgis wants to farm with Angora rabbits. I'd like that. I want to learn to spin my own wool and weave.
