I hate sorting socks... I found a great method that works. I clip them together before putting them in the dirty laundry bin.... then put in washing machine, .... then put in dryer..... then put in my clean sock drawer, still clipped together.
*laughing hard* Socks... sock city... actually not sure if I should be crying instead. Katey, you have a project now. Create a sock city. Want me to send you some socks?
Good idea, that, Bert! I should try it. What kind of clip do you use? It has to be something that won't damage the socks.
Tint - There's a link on my previous comment (Dirty socks). I think you may have seen that post before...? ?? But whatever. it sure solved the problem for me...it's SO easy now.
who owns those socks? There are a few I'd like to have!! I hate sorting socks too. Espcially Jonathan's socks. They're all white, and all different. I usually end up wadding them into a bunch and dumping them in the clothes basket. Then HE picks through them.
I have a brilliant ruse where socks are concerned. Morgan wears grey socks, Steve wears black socks, I don't wear socks. Thus, just separate the two denominations of sock and chuck 'em in the drawer for the appropriate person. No need to match 'em up! :)
Kat, I'm afraid I can't tell you who owns them. The image was shamefully stolen =/ My sock-sorting methods are pretty much the same as yours. If I wear socks at all, they're easy to sort. Jurgis' socks, definitely not.
Jenny, that is probably the most sensible way out of the dilemma. Just out of curiosity... what do you do in the cold English winters without socks?
Well, unless there's snow on the ground Tint, I don't bother with socks and just put my trainers on. I must be "blessed" with hot feet! When there's snow on the ground (and bear in mind that "snow" over here is very different to "snow" over there) I might put a pair of fluffy socks on - but they're straight back off again when I get indoors - and on go my fluffy slippers. :)
Jenny, I'm laughing at the idea of 'snow over there'. I wish! I'm in Brazil. My daughter's in Northampton and a self-confessed sock-junkie. I have terrible circulation, so my hands and feet are usually cold. One degree below warm and my finger tips start going blue. Socks are vital. On the other hand, one degree above warm and my extremities are toasting and sweaty. There's no happy medium.
You'd wither away in Brazil - at least, in this end of Brazil. They don't do bright, colourful or prints in socks. The closest they get to adventurous 'socks' is fishnet stockings and even that's not very common.
*grins* My daughter beat you to it. Knowing the dearth of decent socks here, the first thing she did when she arrived in England (well, almost the first), was to ship socks to her sock-starved mom...
The trouble with having all socks the same manufacturer and same color is that it's hard to match the left socks with the right socks, they all look the same.
Sock folding?!! You have a veritable plethora of sock puppets there - a whole sock city! :)
ReplyDeleteOooh, take Katey's idea one step further and YouTube a production of ....
ReplyDelete..... wait for it .....
Socks In The City.
Pa-dum-PUM!
Ok, I'm going away now.

ReplyDeleteI only wear wild socks. Dog prints, cat paws, stripes, plaid...why be boring.

ReplyDeleteTry all the same colour, makes matching sooooo much easier.
