ROFL ... that's the worst! Needing to sneeze and it won't come!
ReplyDeleteI have it sometimes ... and of course always when I'm teaching. The kids love it and they always make fun of me. I wonder why? Could it be the strange face?
When I'm in class, I usually have the opposite problem... being caught unawares =/ I think it's the strange face combined with the fun of seeing us scramble for a hanky and then have nothing to show for it.
ReplyDeleteLol. Murphys law!
ReplyDeleteAnd you know what Murphy can do, right? lol
ReplyDeleteThey do!! I think it's that pause we take looking for the hanky that throws it off. So it waits until it knows you don't have one, and then lets loose. hehe
ReplyDelete*rails against the nose sensory fates shaking fist*
ReplyDeletesneaky things!
ReplyDeleteFunny and true! Do folks use cloth hankies mostly where you are, or tissues? My grandfather continued to use cloth hankies or bandanas for his sneezles until he passed away a few years ago. I've used cloth diapers for the kids, cloth wipes for their bottoms, cloth feminine napkins for me, but I still find it icky to use a cloth handkerchief for blowing my nose.
ReplyDeletehaha! Oh Faye... you're a tonic! We've used cloth diapers through many a cold or hayfever spell. I use hankies when I can. Let's just say I'm saving the trees. I can't stand soggy tissues. I have a huge pile I stitched from an old sheet that got threadbare in the centre. We keep those for hayfever season or the odd cold that goes around.
ReplyDeleteAs for what is common here? Sniffing... It's vile and constant. No one uses tissues or hankies. Yuck!
Oh, I hate an uncompleted sneeze. How frustrating!
ReplyDeleteHey, using old sheets for hankies is a good idea, if I can get over the idea :) Ewww, no tissues used at all.
ReplyDeletewell, if you happen to need to sneeze and you don't have a hanky or tissue at hand, there is always an alternative (not saying it is a pleasant one). One can always use his/hers elbow for that. As I've said, it might not be all that pleasant, but it is more sanitary and hygienic than trying to cover your sneeze with a bare hand
ReplyDeleteKippy, yes... very frustrating. Though even worse is a completed sneeze without protection.
ReplyDeleteFaye, I recycle everything. Old sheets are the handiest things out : )
Asta, the very thought! I always have something on hand to use. A normal sneeze is one thing, but a sneeze with a cold... nasty! *laughing*
Haha. Yes, I remember our discussion of that and wet sleeves. ;)
ReplyDeleteKeeer Choooo? lol :)
ReplyDeleteyeah, I DO know the very thought is kind of revolting. But doctors (I've read an article about this somewhere quite recently) kind of agree that that's the most hygienic way to sneeze, both preventing the germs getting on your hands, thus one does not spread them around by touching surfaces, and really covering the sneeze, so the rest of the germs can't spread wide and high through the air
ReplyDeleteKippy... eew... wet sleeves! I remember it well *laugh*
ReplyDeleteKat... bless you! ; )
Asta... we had those articles here too during the swine flu scare. It didn't help. They still sneezed all over the show. I'm almost obsessive about covering my nose when I sneeze... if I catch it in time haha!
When I can, I sneeze into my elbow. Unless I'm riding my motorcycle-then it's just sneezing into the air, lol!!!
ReplyDeleteKathleen, sneezing into the air when riding a motor bike doesn't sound all that bad. But I already envision what germs camera it would make to sneeze inside of one's helmet (closed one) ;)
ReplyDeleteActually... that makes me wonder then. I often half-fantasise about riding a motorbike.... what do you do when you need one of those mega-sneezes? The mind boggles! Methinks I'll take to making sure I'm not driving behind cyclists from now on *grins*
ReplyDeleteAh Ha! Yes! Mega sneezes (when your eyeballs close whether or not you want them to) provide a problem...lol. However, I don't have a faceshield on my helmet, so I just sneeze into the air. Now that you mention it, I'm contemplating the sight of a sneeze on the clear plastic myself...grins...!!!
