Saw a bomb squad vehicle stop and ask for directions today. Should I be worried?

  1. Only if they were asking where your house is!

  3. It was freaky.... this van all in camo, with the Portuguese version of "bomb disposal unit" plastered on the back, being given directions by a local yokel on a bike. I'd have taken a photo, but the bus went by too quickly.

  4. You'd think maybe someone back at HQ might have invested in some kind of GPS technology or something. Scaaary!

  5. A couple of things have my head spinning... a) bomb disposal? Here? Brazil? b) they were lost c) I live in the sticks-ville end of town... bomb disposal here?? Unless they were on their way to a training thing, which brings its own set of questions.

  6. LOL I'm still laughing, and even more so after reading the new comments. I wish you had a picture, Tint! And Kippy, that's probably too practical for the area. Remember Tint's voting blog? There were candidates nicknamed after fruits for crying out loud...lol.....

  7. Kippy's thinking of civilization apparently ; )

  8. And they probably heard that fruit is good for you... the rest is logical, right?

  9. Yes... I'd be worried if they "needed" directions (they should know these things). I would hope ambulance drivers do better ? ?

  10. Hopefully they were newbies who had lost their way .... which also doesn't bode well!

  15. or maybe that was part of interaction with society thing. You know, sort of when police or any other force structure is talking about the need to cooperate with people more closely ;) So asking for directions is like 'Oh, hey, we're just a regular guys' stuff. On the other hand, I believe that all emergency services should have GPS to help them

  16. I am thinking a collection to get them a GPS might be in order LOL

  19. Bert... if I told you I'd seen ambulance drivers asking for directions.... ?

Katey, either way it doesn't bode well.

Kimmy, my husband suggested that if we encounter one asking for directions, we should just tell him to look for the pretty bright lights that are about to go off.

    Faye, it was weird.

Marianne, not like SA in the least... they have no call for major bomb squads here.

Annette, I'm not in the least worried. I was more amused and somewhat flabberghasted by it.

Asta, they're not into 'interaction with society' here. The law enforcement tries to have as little to do with the populace as they can.

Marty, that's one collection I won't be taking up!

Kat, no one came here. Would've been nice if they had. Imagine the blog fodder!

Amalie... bomb squad: "a squad or force of police officers or others trained to disarm bombs and other explosive devices."
