Starting over

I decided to start my day over. That's the fun part about time. You can start over at any point in your day. This image is a copy of a greeting card I saw. I found the message to be good... and timely. "No one can go back to make a new beginning, but anyone can begin now to make a new future." So, so true!

My head was in a distinctly funky place when I wrote my earlier blog today. It was literally a knee-jerk reaction. Freak now and ask questions later. I did ask questions in the end, when the fluff was cleared from my brain. The agent had written to tell me about the cancellation. I just never got it and it was all good:

"...she's been having a lot of problems with her schedule and can't continue classes now. She said she expects to sort out her schedule within the next couple weeks and will then get in touch again to resume classes. She said she loved your classes."
Ah now... that's better! And you know, if she doesn't come back (though I'm sure she will), the space is just being cleared for something better.

Class with young MF went just fine. Her father was back from his travels - he's hardly ever home - so everyone was cheerful and distracted, though the little one crawled up to where we were, heard me telling MF to scroll up (laptop) and kept saying, "Up! Up!" and laughing. That was so nice to hear. She's making huge progress.

Life is good... when I let it be good ; )

  1. You know what, Tint? I found that quote this weekend! I was making PP posters (I made 3 new ones) and really wanted to use that one, but couldn't find a good graphic to go with it. :( But I love the idea of changing your day and, in effect, your life.

Great news from the agent! I'm so glad you found the message and that you feel better. :)

Funny how the little things can help with the decision to change a day, isn't it? I'm so glad for you. :)

  2. Kippy, I don't know if I got the English translation of the quote right, so feel free to post your version here for me to enjoy =Þ It's just something that hit home quite strongly... that and the fact that it's never too late to make that new start. I'm soooo thrilled to hear you're making PP posters!!! *grins* That, along, gave my heart a lift. Yes, it's funny how little things can add up to change the outlook of a day. Whew! :)

  3. You know what? I totally LOST the PP page from my own! I couldn't find it, so I assumed FB had deleted it due to inactivity. I did an ego surf this weekend, and when I searched for my name, PP came up! I was tickled. :D I'm going to post them soon .. had a few other things to get done and sent out this morning.

I'll have to see if I can find that quote again. I probably read about 300 quotes in one night! haha. Can you think of a good graphic to go with it? I couldn't. :(

You know ... I think that even a certain someone's cell phone pics might make for good poster material at some point. *ahem koff* ;)

  4. Hm... I'll give the pic some thought. It's not easy to imagine the whole looking back/looking forward in a photo. Oooh.. next time you have some major clouds behind you, a photo of your rearview mirror showing storm clouds with a gorgeous scene ahead would work!

Cell phone pics? You know someone who takes nice cell phone pics? *laughing* Pft!

  5. Oh, now that is a good idea! With the rearview mirror. See? I knew we were good collaborators. ;)

*pinch* on the cellphone pics deal. hehe.

  6. Hope that's true; I like that idea. It was your title that encouraged my visit.

  8. Kippy, I see you found PP again! Great! I was just hunting for it. Man! Facebook is a confusing place to navigate. How did you find it?

Welcome, Linda :) I'm a firm believer in fresh starts.

    Marty... ditto! :)

  9. Hehe, like I posted above, I did a little ego surfing this weekend. Did a search for my name, and PP came up! I was so tickled! :D

And I agree, FB is tough to navigate. :( I have it bookmarked, now. I'm not going to lose it again!

  11. I like to try to figure out what something says in another language. All I saw that was familiar was "Voltar" and thought of my son's GI Joe figures...then wondered why on earth you'd be writing about Voltar. And gave up.

Starting the day over is a good idea. By the time my day is starting off wrong, it's too late to go back and fix it. Once I'm at work---that's it for me. Downhill after that.

I'm also wondering who "young MF" is. Now, MF could be a multitude of things. Young MF as opposed to Old MF. With my potty mouth MF would be an abbreviation for Muthuh F---. I'm guessing that's not the case?

  12. Wish I wasn't on my phone. I will come back.

  13. Woooohooooo for a better day! Starting over is good. Yess. Mmmmmm.

    ;o)

  14. Kat, MF is the initials of my 9 year old student. It would have to be a very extreme situation for me to swear on a public blog and even then, my language is a lot milder than that. I'm the archetypical prude on my blogs haha! I know squat about GI Joe figures, but 'voltar' means to come back or go back. You can change any day at any time, even when circumstances are lousy. I totally believe you can change things at work.

Katey... take your time, my friend!

  15. Jaime, starting over is the best thing since sliced bread. Ok, perhaps not needing to start over would be the bes thing, but I'm so glad I have that choice :)

  16. Fresh new starts are nice :) and yes life can be good!

  17. I'd go for calling it the best thing since sliced bread. Though ya gotta admit, sometimes having fresh baked and unsliced bread provides one of those perfect moments. Take it out of the oven, listening the ot crust "sing" and crackle just a bit, knowing in about two minutes, you will have melty buttery goodness. Unsliced bread = blissful potential.

So yeah. Starting over? Best thing since sliced bread. Being able the carve your bread the way you want it? Possibly even better....

  18. With butter and honey? Yummmm. Man I'm hungry!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Actually, we just had homemade zucchini bread for dessert so I am stuffed!

  20. I haven't eaten since breakfast and it's 2pm-ish. *cries. Off to get lunch!

  21. I'd never have noticed! =Þ

Bread! Hot bread! Hot bread with oodles of buttery goodness! Hm...

Food generally makes for good conversation, don'tcha think?

    ReplyDelete
  22. best conversations happen in the kitchen eh? ;o) Yummmm fresh bread with sweet butter....

Food makes me happy. Happiness leads to joyful conversation? Maybe people should eat more carbs to be less crabby? Win!

  23. IT IS GOOD as long as you let it be..

  24. You know, Jaime, now that I think of it, some of my all-time best conversations have been in the kitchen over food. That works! Food therapy rules!

    That's right, Tori :)
